It arrived within days and I have to admit the service from Maxwell Scott is above and beyond that from normal retailers. First of all the jiffy bag. Instead of the usual buff padded envelopes it arrived in a bright very attractive gold jiffy bag (Which I reused in which to post a gift) inside, the case arrived wrapped in tissue paper,(Which if you are buying something as a present would allow you to get away with wrapping it up) unwrapping the paper unveiled my pen case. It oozes quality, quite thick leather, very well stitched around the edges, embossed with the Maxwell Scott logo on the front and on the inside of the flap.
Unlike my previous case , which can comfortably take 3 pens, this one while able to take 3 (At a push) is better off off with just 2 inside.
All in very impressed with my purchase and I can see myself purchasing a few others as gifts. Yes they are expensive, but with this pen case you get what you pay for.Best of all it is made in Italy, which keeps European jobs alive.

I purchased this Pen case in Feb 2016 and it's been used almost every day and it looks better than new. I've found Maxwell Scott's leather goods just look better with usage. It is very well made as all of the Maxwell Scott items I have purchased (historically 6 items and last week 2 others bags, 1 for me and 1 for my wife) and today 3 other items.
I have found the them all extremely well made.
The leather quality is outstanding.
I have only purchased them in Chestnut Tan and the colour exudes quality.
And all my historical purchases have aged beautifully.

I did spend quite some time debating whether to spend so much on a case for my fountain pens. After reading some of the other reviews I decided to spend the money. It is just a leather pen case, but it is a very good quality one. It is quite stiff, but I am sure that it will soften with age and usage. I have some very nice fountain pens and this case does them justice. I use my pens daily, carrying them in my handbag or briefcase and feel that the case is sturdy and well made and will protect the pens.
It was well packaged, nicely wrapped so would be lovely as a gift, and arrived promptly.

A tad of an extravagance, as one might expect, for a simple pen(cil case) but utterly beautiful. Superb leather; although it has a slightly unusual smell to my nose, not what I would have expected from Italian Leather. Perhaps as a result of the "vegetable-tanned" portion of the leather; not an offensive smell, merely not the smell that I have associated in the past with high quality leather.
Cons:
Be aware of the size of this item - whilst it comfortably holds 3 Parker standard size fountain pens it is not large enough to store a full size pencil (not that most would want to - given it is a "pen holder"!) - but the only area I could fault it.

In the pictures, it is shown with three writing instruments inside of it, but I have found that I can really only fit two fountain pens (a Lamy Safari and a Parker Sonnet).
